Every day looks a little different and to be honest no week in Guatemala is the same but I wanted to give you peek into what life looks like here!

Monday:

My team gets to start our week off working alongside Birdhouse Foundation! We start our mornings doing house visits throughout the community and then in the afternoons we get to teach an English class for about 35 kids. For the time that we’re here we are teaching about the fruit of the spirit. It’s such a sweet time of the week!

Tuesday:

On Tuesday’s we get to work with our second ministry host, Junior. Days that we work with Junior’s church can look like pretty much anything! House visits, gardening, babysitting, cleaning, anything. However, Tuesday afternoons are most of the time spent with kiddos from the community. There’s a women’s event that happens on base for the local ladies so we take care of their kids during this time.

Wednesday:

Our 2nd day of the week working with Birdhouse. Wednesday usually consists of house visits and helping out around our ministry base. Next week we’ll be helping build a house but till then we get to help with whatever needs to be done. House visits are special, getting to speak life over people through scripture and prayer. It’s been a beautiful time of stepping into listening to what the Lord has to say to each person through us and learning to be a vessel. It is a really special thing to be invited into people’s houses so warmly.

Thursday:

Activation day!! The whole squad spends the morning in worship with the AIM staff and then we having a teaching. For our time in Guatemala we’re focusing on the 5 fold, Ephesians 4:11-13. After our teaching we have lunch and then bus to Paramos for street evangelism. This has been a major time of learning but the Lord is so kind. Last week we got to share Jesus to a guy who was so clearly searching for something more to life and he even spoke english so we didn’t need our good friend Google Translate. Check out this story on my squads Instagram @gap_wsquad. We also had our first 3×3 basketball tourney this past Thursday!

Friday:

Friday’s are spent with Junior as well as with the AIM staffs women’s ministry leaders. We help out with events, play with kids, and do whatever they need our help with! This past Friday we got to run a VBS in a local village which was really sweet.

Saturday:

Adventure day!! Saturday is our day to go and explore the beautiful country we get to call home. Some days are spent at a coffee shop getting wifi to connect with family and friends, others are spent touring around local cities! Our day ends with squad dinner, worship, and a teaching to enter us into our sabbath!

Sunday:

Sabbath! On the race I’ve been learning what it looks like for me to sabbath. What it looks like to rest in the Lord and His creation as I prepare for a new week. Most of my sabbaths start with church, either squad church or a local church, then Sunday lunch crew goes and buys a rotisserie chicken for our small feast, followed by talking with friends and spending time in the word. After I get back from the store the rest of my day is spent on base. It’s been really sweet to live into the gift that the Lord has blessed us with.

Ministry is such a sweet thing! To be the hands of feet of Jesus each day is so beautiful and it gets to be a lifestyle you walk in. Not just Monday to Friday, but everyday all day! With that being said, ministry can be something that is easy to just go through the motions. But I’ve really been trying to prepare my heart each morning to approach the day of ministry with my eyes fixed on the Lord.

When I’m gardening what is my heart posture?

When I’m flying kites with kids what is my heart posture?

When I’m cutting pieces of paper what is my heart posture?

How can I see each person in front of me the way Jesus does, and how can I approach each thing I do as though I’m doing it for the King?

Do I have the right posture all the time. No, but it’s a process.

A way that I’ve been learning to walk with my eyes fixed on the Lord is being in consistent prayer. Being in consistent prayer is something I’m growing in and it’s so beautiful!

We get to have direct communication with the Creator of the universe! We don’t have to go to a specific place, offer sacrifices, or talk through a person. We have DIRECT COMMUNICATION with the one on the throne! Too often I take this for granted and didn’t lean into the blessing it is.

I’ve been learning what it means to be in constant communication vertically while being in relationships horizontally.

Anyways, that’s a bit of an update of life here on the race! We are about halfway through our time in Guatemala which is crazy! Soaking in all the time we have left in this sweet place that so easily became home.
